So, I got ahold of a copy of World of Warcraft recently. See, originally if you wanted to play you had to pay a monthly fee to use the gameservers. Seems many hackers & coders have developed emulators that allow them to run private servers...and you can now play WoW for free. Always heard it was an addictive game, and indeed it is. If anyone wants to play for free, go here: www.gamecorn.com and follow their instructions to make an account, etc. If you want to get the game itself, you can now download it from Blizzard for free. Can't figure out how to do that? Here's a link to the installer program that will download the entire game for you from Blizzard. Get it here. And yes, I still manage to have a life outside of the computer although this game could easily monopolize anyone's time. If you do play on the aforementioned server (gamecorn) my character is a human warrior (bald, of course) named Arak. My home city is Stormwind. Cheers!

For years I've been a Dallas Cowboys fan. For years they have been embarassing to watch. This year, I've had so much fun watching them as a team actually play football. They seem to be absolutely on fire. As of today, they are 4-0. Undefeated. I can only hope they make it to the Superbowl & crush whoever they play. I have a good friend who's a Redskins fan and Dallas will play them twice during this regular season. Those will be some noisy games at my place here. We now return your to your regularly angsty journal place.

Bejeezus. Sep. 20th, 2007 @ 08:17 pm
No matter how old & crusty I get, I always think I'm immune to emo music. Then I listen to the new disc by James Blunt. There are so many things in his artistry that I've wanted to say but never knew how. Most music will not ever bring me to tears. His does. It's powerful. Call me a pussy, I don't care. There are times when nothing but emotions drive me. I'm human, dammit. I love & hate like anyone else. His music talks to me, and I wish I knew why. The disc is called "All The Lost Souls". Christ knows, there's enough of those in my life. Including myself.

"There's something in the mist!" Sep. 2nd, 2007 @ 04:55 am
The short story was one of my favorites, it scared the hell out of me. The Mist was one of Stephen King's best I thought. Looks like from this trailer that it will be faithfully reproduced. Check it out here.

» Fuggeddaboutit.

Along with just about everyone else in the world I watched The Sopranos end Sunday on HBO. I thought it was a great ending. I read now where lots of folks are pissed about it. Wah. Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" played as Tony & his family chowed on onion rings in a Jersey diner. The screen goes dark & quiet and that's it. David Chase has said he won't ever say "never" to a feature film. Wouldn't surprise me but I bet it'll be a while before we see that. So long Tone.

» Saw this today...
...a sticker on a truck:

"Get a taste of Religion....Lick A Witch."

I nearly fell down laughing so hard when I saw it!

Listening to an advance of the new White Stripes disc "Icky Thump", it fucking rocks hard! Comes out June 19th.

UPDATE: Got the actual release now, buy this CD when it comes out!!!
» Hate grocery shopping & live in Roanoke?
Then you need to order your groceries online from these fine folks www.shopfoodex.com. They have been around a while now and are teetering on the brink of going out of the home delivery business. Seems nobody uses their services. It's only $5.00 to have your groceries delivered right to your home. I used them when I got out of the hospital and they were fast, courteous and did a splendid job. Support a local business and try 'em out today!
» The 400!
My beloved Simpsons are running their 400th episode tonight. Gotta love 'em!
» This is gonna be harsh...
...but it is my lj, after all. Jerry Falwell is finally dead! W00t!! That hate-mongering bastard will no longer spew forth his intolerant "values" and insane theories about alternative lifestyles! I personally don't believe in god, but should it turn out there is one, I pray he does the right thing and sends this nazi to hell. That is all.
» Blurgh.
There's nothing I can really say that hasn't already been said about the events of this past Monday. My heart goes out to all the families & friends that have to suffer because of one sick bastard. I have good memories of Blacksburg, it's where I lived when I first came to Virginia. Got my first & only tattoo there. Met some cool cats, partied hard. Keep your heads up lads & ladettes.
» Ben Davis, 1967-2007
I was just notified that my former neighbor Ben Davis was found dead on his couch by his brother. Cause of death is unknown at this time. I'll miss ya Ben, you were a good neighbor, friend and a good man.

» Today.
Today Vice-President Dick Cheney said "talk of blunders concerning Iraq is just hogwash.". I got news for ya, assface, it's one giant blunder. It's idiots like you that made the Vietnam war drag on so long and claim so many lives. If it's so easy to resolve, lets put a vest on your fat-ass and send you to the front lines. Should we paint every insurgent to look like a good friend so you know where to shoot? Christ's sake, keep the politicians out of the war college. The moment this war became political is the moment it failed. Wars should last about 1-2 days. With overwhelming victory or defeat. That's it. For all you hippies out there, guess what? This country makes war on other countries. Get over it. It's gonna happen whether you like it or not. Oh, and there's a whole lotta killin' goin' on. There always will be, no matter what you think. That's what a military does. Concentrate on welcoming the troops home rather than vilifying them. Otherwise it's the shitcan for ya, just like the Bush administration.

» So long Juanita.
I was shocked & saddened to read this morning of a passing in the Roanoke Times. Juanita Morrow, the wife & co-owner of the Community Inn bar & grill died from lung cancer. She was 66. Anyone who's ever been to Community Inn has probably been waited on by her. I used to go there for lunch alot, and Juanita was almost always there. She'd gladly share her newspaper with patrons to read, but only if they promised to fold it neatly after. She was ornery for sure and that was part of her charm. My heart goes out to Bruce her husband & the whole crew there, I'm sure they're all devastated. Everyone will miss you Juanita.

Happy Halloween you freaky people.

Much as I like LJ, I'm going to no longer be posting here on a regular basis. Mainly, I'll be using my MySpace blog & page from now on. More privacy, and more customizable to my liking. If you've got a MySpace account and want to be able to access my page there, shoot me any email or comment on this entry and I'll get you the info. Take it easy!
» New Rock Station in Roanoke.
The old WZZI call letters are again being used by "The Planet" 101.5 in Roanoke & Lynchburg. They made a direct stab @ ROV tonight on the air, made me laugh. Anyways, the station isn't bad, quite a lot of classic rock, they just play many different songs instead of the same three by bands. Plus, they got Bob & Tom in the morning which rocks.
